Member Safety

Use this form to report any misconduct or violation of Breakthrough’s policies & laws. All information submitted will remain confidential and anonymous. Once submitted Breakthrough Indoor Percussion and/or Breakthrough Indoor Winds admin will do its due diligence to investigate all matters in accordance with our policies and law.

In an effort to protect all interested parties and address our commitment to integrity and ethical behavior, Breakthrough Indoor Percussion and Breakthrough Indoor Winds will not tolerate any retaliation against anyone who makes a good faith report, or threatens to make a good faith report, regarding Breakthrough Indoor or an individual, whose suspected violation of the law or other violation endangers the health or safety of a participant, any personnel of Breakthrough Indoor.

Our Policies

A. Professionalism and Public Conduct

 All members must maintain a professional and positive image, approach and demeanor. All members must adhere to any staff expectations concerning public and private conduct. Professional conduct at all group functions is expected for numerous reasons. Our actions as members make bold statements about who we are, and what we are focused on achieving.

B. Anti-Hazing Policy

 Breakthrough provides its membership with numerous opportunities for social interaction. Each member should at all times show respect for themselves, others, the organization, and the governing bodies that allow us to participate in this activity. Hazing of any kind will NEVER be tolerated, and inappropriate conduct may constitute a permanent removal from the group without refund of fees. Hazing or jokes that could be taken as “hazing” are never allowed at Breakthrough. Please be aware that our members come from many locations and a variety of social backgrounds. Respect for the diversity we share as a family will ultimately help us enjoy achieving success.

C. Drug & Alcohol Policy

While Breakthrough - for the majority of the season - only meets three days a week. The conduct of its personnel is held accountable 24/7. Each season and each member/staff member represents the Breakthrough of past, present, and future. The use of illegal drugs is strictly prohibited for all members at all times. Members found under the influence or in possession of illegal drugs will be immediately dismissed from the group without refund of fees. This policy applies to cases where members are convicted or cited of possession of drugs outside of Breakthrough events.

There are many members of the group of the legal drinking/smoking age in the United States. Breakthrough members of legal drinking/smoking age are prohibited from drinking/smoking/smokeless products/e-cigarettes/vaping while at all Breakthrough functions, trips, outings and officially sanctioned Breakthrough activities. Any use of these products while entering and/or exiting our rehearsal/event/performance spaces (parking lots, property grounds, etc..) is prohibited.

Members found to be under the influence of any substance (drugs, alcohol, tobacco) at a Breakthrough rehearsal, events or performances are subject to immediate dismissal from the group without refund of fees. Breakthroughs drug and alcohol policies are absolutely non-negotiable. 

D.  Sexual Misconduct

Breakthrough strictly prohibits all conduct which could pose a threat to the safety of Breakthrough Cast members, staff members, volunteers or those acting in compliance with Breakthrough Indoor Percussion event. If participating cast or staff members receive information and/or knowledge of any kind (oral or written, "informal" or "formal") suggesting that misconduct has occurred that is connected in any way to individuals or activities associated and if the suggested misconduct meets any of the following criteria, then that participant/those participants should notify Breakthrough Administration of the information in writing immediately:

  • Any misconduct of a sexual nature or potentially classifiable as a sex offense under applicable law,

  • Including without limitation so-called "victimless" activities such as prostitution, pornography, and

  • indecent exposure.

  • Any misconduct in which actual or suggested sexual relations is an element.

  • Any harassing conduct pertaining to, in whole or in part, an individual's sex, gender, sexual orientation, or gender expression.

  • Any conduct involving harm to a minor.

  • Any and all harassment that would be deemed as unprofessional

 Breakthrough will maintain and thoroughly comply with internal Breakthrough policies and procedures for the protection and safety of its participants, staff, and volunteers, including without limitation the ability of any individual to report suspected misconduct to the leadership of Breakthrough Indoor Percussion without reprisal.

 Breakthrough shall conduct an effective internal investigation, report the matter to the appropriate external authorities as may be necessary, and take appropriate and effective remedial action under the circumstances.

 Anyone found to have participated in misconduct that threatens the safety, well-being or professional conduct of a Breakthrough participant will be disciplined and reported to the appropriate authorities and as Breakthrough finds appropriate, up to and including a permanent ban from association with any Breakthrough sanctioned event and/or membership in any capacity.

E. Non-Discrimination Policy

Breakthrough Indoor Percussion and Breakthrough Indoor Winds both provides equal employment, volunteer, performing, and educational opportunities to all persons without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, or veteran status, in accordance with applicable federal, state and local laws. This policy applies with respect to all terms and conditions of employment and membership, including auditions, membership, hiring, compensation, benefits, layoffs, and termination.

Breakthrough strives to create an atmosphere free of discrimination and harassment in any and all forms. To this end, Breakthrough expressly prohibits any form of harassment based on race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, or veteran status.  All Staff, Volunteers, Members and everyone involved in the organization are responsible for assuring that Breakthrough’s operations, including all in-person and/or digital opportunities, are completely free from harassment or discrimination of all kinds.  Improper interference with the ability of all Breakthrough members, volunteers, and staff - to perform their expected respective membership, staff and/or volunteer duties in a healthy and safe environment will not be tolerated.
